Choosing wide ruled writing paper

This wide ruled lined paper uses 8.7mm between horizontal lines. It is a single-line writing sheet with a red margin, available as separate A4 and US Letter PDFs.

More room for larger handwriting

Try this spacing for elementary classroom assignments, spelling sentences, or adult handwriting that feels cramped on college ruled paper. Write a short sample with your usual pen before printing a stack. If letters still touch neighboring rows, try 10mm or 12mm spacing in the generator.

Wide ruled is different from primary lined paper

This printable handwriting paper has solid lines only. It has no dotted midline or three-line bands to guide lowercase letter height. For a beginner who needs those guides, use the format requested by their teacher; wider ordinary lines do not replace primary handwriting guides.

A response sheet for classroom worksheets

The blank header area can hold a handwritten name, date, or title. Put question numbers in the red margin and leave the main writing area for answers. The download contains no printed exercises, so it can accompany a reading passage, spelling list, or homework task.

Wide ruled paper questions

Why does wide lined paper look similar to 8mm paper?

The difference is small: 8.7mm is about 9% wider than 8mm. Compared with 7.1mm college ruling, the writing rows are about 23% taller. The same-scale comparison above shows the difference without changing page size.

Is this printable notebook paper wide ruled?

Yes. These PDFs use 8.7mm wide ruling with a single red left margin. Our separate notebook paper template uses 8mm rows and a double red margin, so choose this page when you specifically need wide ruling.

Can I use this as lined paper for kids?

Yes, when the child is ready for ordinary single-line writing. Check the assignment requirements and letter size first. The sheet does not provide a dotted midline, and line spacing alone does not correct pencil grip.
