Letter landscape hex grid paper
This Letter landscape template uses pointy-top hexagons with a vertex at the top and bottom and 10mm edge lengths on a 8.5 x 11 inch page. Use it for vertical maps, alternate game layouts, and connected diagrams, or customize the colors and margins.
Template details
US Letter is the standard everyday paper size for most home, school, and office printers in the United States and Canada. Every hexagon has a 10mm edge, a 20 mm point-to-point diameter, and a 17.3 mm flat-to-flat diameter.
Pointy-top hexes have a vertex at the top and bottom and form staggered rows across the page. The centered grid area is approximately 251.1 x 185 mm and contains about 14 x 12 staggered hex positions.
A 10mm hex grid provides larger cells for labels, tokens, classroom demonstrations, encounter maps, and layouts that need more writing room.
Each cell has six evenly arranged neighbors, making the 10mm grid useful for movement, distance, terrain, encounters, and board-game layouts.
Use the repeated six-sided cells for molecular sketches, network diagrams, tiling studies, spatial planning, and designs built from connected units.
Pointy-top grids suit vertically organized maps, alternate game-board layouts, and routes that visually emphasize north-south movement. US Letter is suited to us home, school, and office printing.
Both formats preserve the same 10mm edge length and pointy-top layout. Choose US Letter for us home, school, and office printing; choose A4 when international home, school, and office printing better matches the printer or project.

Use the PDF when the physical hex dimensions matter. The edge length and repeated geometry are preserved when the printer uses the correct paper and scale settings.
Load 8.5 x 11 inch paper and select Letter as the paper size in the print dialog.
Select Actual Size or 100% scale. Turn off Fit, Shrink, and Scale to Page options.
Keep the print dialog set to landscape so the grid is not rotated or reduced automatically.
Use a ruler to confirm that one straight side of a hexagon measures 10mm.

Answers specific to printing 10mm pointy-top hex grid paper on US Letter.
The listed size is the length of one straight hexagon edge. Each cell measures 20 mm from opposite points and approximately 17.3 mm between opposite flat sides.
This landscape template contains approximately 14 x 12 staggered hex positions inside a 251.1 x 185 mm centered grid area. Edge cells can be clipped by the rectangular border.
Choose the orientation that matches your map, game system, or diagram. Both provide six equal neighbors and identical cell dimensions; pointy top is simply a 30-degree rotation of flat top.
Select US Letter paper, use Actual Size or 100% scale, and disable Fit to Page. Then verify that one edge measures 10mm.
Portrait is useful for tall maps and vertically organized diagrams. Landscape provides more horizontal room for wide maps, encounters, routes, and board layouts.
